Quincy Walks the Talk

Big news! Our little girl has been walking for over two weeks now, and it’s a ball.

It all started at Gerry’s BBQ for the Bandito’s Burritos Ski-to-Sea relay team, the Friday before Memorial Day. He has a nice, big back yard with smooth, lush grass and a badminton court. Lots of little kids were running around playing. Q.P. had just gotten a new pair of shoes from See Kai Run.

We’re not sure which was the magic ingredient she needed, but we do know it was just a lack of confidence keeping her from breaking free. She had been practicing so much, but always needing just one little finger on her for support. Finally she found her wings and is flying on her own!

She certainly hasn’t slowed down since. In fact, each day she gets more stable and more capable. She goes downhill. She goes uphill in the gravel. She steps on objects and gets bumped by dogs, and often now she just wobbles a bit, then keeps right on truckin’. Sure, she hits her bum pretty hard now and again, but she’s got her daddy’s toughness! Not much crying from failed attempts or skinned knees. She can now get herself up to have another try.

On the other hand, she is struggling with two new teeth this week. Can’t always have it so good, I guess.

Susie captured an adorable video of Q.P. roaming about the house, doing her typical errands. Only this time she wanted to wear an oversize hat. It should appear in the ‘videos’ link on the sidebar as the first video on the top. Meanwhile, we’ll post it here for good measure:
